Things To Do In Hahndorf

The picturesque tree lined main street is full of restaurants, bakeries, pubs and cafes as well as galleries and shops offering everything from sweets, local produce, artwork and German cuckoo clocks. Located nearby are iconic businesses such as the Beerenberg Farm, Udder Delights of one of the many wineries such as the Lane Vineyard and Hahndorf Hill Winery to name a couple. The Ambleside Distillery offers a gin tatsing and other experiences. Also located in Hahndorf is The Cedars which is the family home of Hans Heysen which is now converted into a gallery/museum.

Bay To Birdwood

The Concours has been timed to coincide with the Bay to Birdwood which is one of the world’s great motoring events for vehicles built from the early 1900’s to 1994. Over 1500 vehicles participate in the event which commences at Glenelg on the coast and winds its way to the National Motor Museum in Birdwood. This event is extremely popular and sells out quickly so early registration is essential in order to secure a place. We are hoping we will get a good turnout and arrange for us to travel as a group and have a group display at the Motor Museum. This is a huge opportunity to raise the awareness of the TR marque amongst others. When the registrations are open I will post the link on this site immediately. The event is well supported by the locals and the entire route is lined with people cheering on the cars.

The After Tour

The location of Hahndorf lends itself to some great TR driving experiences in the Adelaide Hills. Situated between the Barossa Valley and the Fleurieu Peninsula there are multiple destinations that we are looking forward to exploring on the after tour. We have chosen to mix it up for the After Tour commencing with the option of enjoying ‘Lunch & Laps’ at our international race course located an hour up the highway on Monday. This event has been done by the local members previously and all enjoyed it immensely! No need for helemets and licences as we are behind a pace car but you certainly get the feel of the track. Lunch is at the on-site international hotel. We will commence the liesurely drive back to Hahndorf via the Revolution Motor Museum. For those that choose to relax and enjoy the ambience of Hahdorf you casn choose to join the walking tour to explore the history of the town and region.
Tuesday brings a liesurely 30 minute drive to Strathalbyn. Some of you will have been here before and will recall the relaxed nature of Strathalbyn with its historic buildings and quaint shops. Enjoy a coffee and cake or wander down the street looking at the shops. Strathalbyn is the home to the Gilbert’s Motor Museum. The cars here are on loan from enthusiasts and is currently displaying Davuid Stephens TR2 although he will probably want that for the concours! One of our concours sponsoors, Classic and Collectables is also located here so take a look and see if they have anything in the showroom that takes your fancy!
Once you have enjoyed Strathalbyn we head down to Langhorne Creek to Bremerton Winery for lunch. If you enjoy the wine at lunch feel free to buy what you can stash and head back to Hahndorf.
The final day is a drive to the coast via McLaren Vale. Lunch is at The Lady Bay Resort where you can watch the golfers dodge the resident kangaroow on course. After lunch you can take a quick drive to the beach or around the area before the drive back to Hahndorf in preparation for you return trip.
