Warren Evans (QLD) - TR3A - 1958 model

Commission # TS 22747 L   Engine No TS 66122 E

My favourite car "Byron" a 58 Triumph TR3A.

The car was delivered to California and in the early 70's was imported into Australia as a virtual wreck (shown below)
by Markich Motors (Triumph Imports) of Bayswater Perth.

A full body off restoration was carried out with the finished car being sold to a Perth QC who purchased the car as an investment and a fun driver for him and his family. During those years the motor, gearbox, overdrive, brakes and front end were fully reconditioned (or so I was told.)

I saw the car for sale on Car Sales when waiting in the lounge of Changi Airport and basically bought it over the phone calling into Perth to check it out after a 10 day surf trip.

I thought I'd kill myself driving a left hand drive car and had Markich Motors convert it to right hand drive incorporating a TR4 rack and pinion steering.

The car was transported over to Noosa arriving in January 2010. Since then the motor gearbox has been removed, engine bay, under bonnet has been painted (as below) while numerous repairs have been done including clutch pressure plate, throw-out bearing and a lot of other bits and pieces along he way.

Since arriving the car has been to Concours in the Barossa, Echuca, Noosa, Tasmania, Ballarat, Toowoomba and hopefully if we can be rid of the Covid 19 virus, Stanthorpe in September, along with many monthly weekend outings with the Qld TR Register.

This iconic photo was taken for the Noosa Concours - but it is not staged as Warren regularly takes his
surf board to the beach in the back of the TR.

It's an amazing car and even loaded up including the boot rack with all of Gail's hats, bags, coats and things along with my tools and overnight bag, it sits on a comfortable 110k at around 2600 RPM all day and returns 30 mpg while over a 2500 mile trip will use 1/2 litre of oil.
