1954 TR2 Long Door Group Sa Race Car
Triumph TR2 (‘long door’) built to Australian Group Sa regulations (1950s classic Production sportscars) by Laurie Cousin in 1978 and has been a competition car ever since, primarily in recent times Group S but also ‘MG and invited’. Car is log booked (H2967) Car has a standing invite to the Tourist Trophy at Sandown and the Rob Roy revival hill climb. Offered for sale due to ill health. Car was extensively rebuilt during the Covid years, including stiffening of the chassis and all new suspension bushes and front geometry (Revington). Engine was rebuilt during this time with a new steel crank, forged pistons and con.rods, Ian Tate’s chassis dynamometer was used by Anthony Dove to set up the 2″ SUs and optimise fuelling and ignition timing. Car is competitive, with many class wins, reliable and great fun to drive lapping Phillip Island in under 2 minutes (1m59.4), Sandown 1m 33.7 and Rob Roy hill climb in 25.7 secs.
Car is race ready but also registered for the road (Victorian club plates) until April 2026. Trailer available if required.
