Early TR Racing/ Competition Photos - Victoria by Glynn Ford
This page is a result of the following photo supplied in our mystery TR series. Geoff Kelly sent it in and eventually Glynn spotted the photo on our website. He has provided us, not only with more information about his car, but also with photos of other TRs in competition in Victoria. The owners of these cars may eventually also contact us with more information?

Glynn says - "I have just spotted the photo of me and my TR3A in 1977 on your webpage, I can give you a bit more information, the Victorian Registration was HGK 272 and the Commission Number was TS78403. The original engine No. was TS78704E but I broke a con rod in a six hour race at Calder and put a hole in the side of the crankcase so it was replaced with TS27812E."

"A bit more information on HGK 272/TS78403. I sold the car in the mid 1980s to Warren Tice, at that time it had a full race engine with all the work on that being done by Brian Sampson’s* Motor Improvements in South Melbourne, it also had a TR4 Overdrive Gearbox. The original TR3A box is now in the 1949 Triumph Roadster TRA1130 which is in Melbourne."

* Brian Sampson (born 17 June 1935) is an Australian retired racing driver. Sampson had a long career throughout the 1960s and 1970s, which he still continues as a hobby. Sampson was a mainstay of the Australian Motor Industries-Toyota Team at the Bathurst 500 from 1965 to 1970, winning Class A in 1969 in a Corolla. Well noted as a collector and racer of Cheetah racing cars, he is best remembered as Peter Brock's co-driver to win the 1975 Bathurst 1000. He also won the 1977 Rothmans 500 co-driving with Warren Cullen. (Source - Wikipedia)

Roger James in the AUSCA now owned by Peter Rose (Vic). We don't have a photo of the AUSCA and would like additional info on the other drivers.??
