TS79440 has travelled LESS THAN 4,000 MILES IN 28 YEARS

TS79440 was first registered as HGM842 on 31/10/1960. It was originally Spa White with Red Vynide interior and White Hardtop. Little else is known of the first 15 years of ownership and its history.

A previous Melbourne owner, Mr. Ken Griffiths acquired TS79440 in 1975 and commenced a full restoration. The body was removed, chassis cleaned and painted. The engine, gearbox and overdrive unit were fully rebuilt. The differential, radiator, steering box, instruments, carburetors were all repaired or rebuilt using genuine Triumph parts. A complete new Lukey exhaust system was obtained along with other electrical and mechanical fittings. The body was reunited with the chassis in 1975. However, through pressure of business, the project was abandoned and the car left in dry storage for 21 years. In 1995, Ron Spencer purchased the car for $9000. He commenced restoration 1996 and completed the project in 1997. The engine/gearbox assembly was removed and the car stripped for a bare metal, nut and bolt restoration. The only rust in the car was in the drivers side door sill and this sill was replaced. The body repairs and paint work were professionally carried out and TS79440 was finished in Triumph Signal Red. During re-assembly, bright work and trim items were either replaced or professionally re-furbished. A New Hood, Tonneau cover and Hood-stick cover were imported from Don Trimming Co. (UK) and were made from ‘ICI Superior Vynide’. The wire wheels were rebuilt and re-painted by Neway Wheels Co. and fitted with new Yokohama tyres.Ron kept photographs along with a file of information on the restoration, and obtained a heritage certificate.Other features of TS79440 include:- Airflow Air Filters, Alternator Conversion, Electric Auxiliary Cooling Fan, Electric Solid State Fuel Pump, Plastic Fan Blades, Wind Wings, Trapezoidal Quartz Headlamps and a magnificent Signal Red Hardtop. TS79440 was finished and returned to the road with registration "THREEA" in March 1997.Since that time "THREEA" has received the following acclaim:

  • Featured in "Triumph World Magazine" (UK)Award for Excellence - Victorian TSOA ConcoursFeatured in Edgell Foods National TV commercial
  • Winner of TR Register National Road Classic Concours

Ron sold the car in 2002, the new owner Rodney Wilson, kept the car for a few months and it is understood seat belts were fitted during his ownership, We purchased TS79440 from The Healey Factory on consignment from Rodney Wilson on 24th July 2003.

"THREEA" has been used only sparingly and has travelled less than 4,000 miles since completion of the restoration. Unfortunately the previous owner sold the hardtop. We hope to acquire another Hardtop to once again restore this item as shown on TS79440's Heritage Certificate, along with Adjustable Steering
