Pete Cousins (TAS) 1956 TR3      TS14000
Sadly, Pete passed away on 9th January 2014
see the next page for a photographic tribute.

The car was built in Durban SA in 1956 - TS14000. I bought it in Feb 66 for £465.
I was caught by a detective doing 80 mph 10 minutes after purchase (just to see if speedo worked). Let off I think because of my girlfriend's mini dress ... loved the sixties.
The car was originally light blue ... but was painted red by a previous owner.
I ran in MG club events in 1968, standing quarters, flyng eighths of a mile, track laps at Baskerville & Symonds Plains.
We won their ch'ship that year against Swallow Dorettis, TR4's & of course all types of MGs.
I have never let the MG members down here forget that!

This photo was taken before restoration
started in June 2003.
Update June 2006 - Pete says: "After 3 years to the day, the restoration is complete. I took it for a test run last week and everything appears ok. The car now has an overdrive that I got 3 years ago from Nick Novak and that is performing beautifully. This was a body off restoration with most things either replaced, renewed, 2 packed or scrutinized. I was lucky to have the mechanical services of an excellent mechanic who specializes in our era of sports cars. He wouldn't let me get away with a thing so he was a good influence."     Photos below show the excellent restoration job.
