"Out and About" - to Bermagui

with the Sapphire Coast Chapter and friends - February 2017

"The Sapphire Coast Chapter of the TR Register had two local runs last week. One to Cranky Cafe at Merimbula for coffee on a perfect day and again on Friday 24th we had a run to Bermagui via the coast road and back down to Kalaru and Wallagoot via Cobargo and Bega.

In Bermagui we caught up with Bevan Cursley and his Austin Healey. Bevan says: 'It is a 1958 100/6 two seater. Only 185 right hand drive 2 seaters were made specifically for the home (UK) market and mine is one of them. It was fully restored in 2000 in the U.K. and was brought out to Tasmania by a couple who divorced and sold the car.
I've owned it for around 6 years.

In our area a TR6 is being restored by my mate Peter Taylor who lives at Wallaga Lake Heights. He recently fully restored a bug eyed Sprite then sold it and bought the TR6 in Perth. restoring a TR6.'

Bevan was surprised to learn that there were sidescreen cars in the area. We hope to meet up with Bevan on some of our future runs. To cap it all off when the Watters and Fletchers arrived in Cobargo, the place was jumping with the local show and Country & Western festival.

The biggest surprise occured when I pulled into a carpark and glanced in the mirror to see a white TR2 behind me. None other than Keith and Dotti Manning in their lovely TR. They are only half an hour from Bermagui so we hope to see them on some of our local runs"     Rick Fletcher
