The picturesque Southern Highlands rural townships of Bowral and Bundanoon played hosts to the TR Register for the highly successful 1987 concours weekend. The majority of members stayed at the cosy, old world Bundanoon Country Hotel, while the concours was conducted at nearby Bowral, during the annual Tulip Festival. A special commemorative medallion was struck for the Bowral concours.
The concours attracted twenty four gleaming sidescreen TRs which were all judged, while several pre 1954 Triumphs were also on display in Centennial Park. The TR display included our first Tasmanian members Terry and Ruth Bower, who made the long trip in their recently restored TR3A.
Graham Brohan’s magnificently restored white TR3A with matching hardtop, won the Laurie Cousin Trophy.
The Class Awards were presented at the presentation dinner on Saturday evening at the Bundanoon Hotel.
On Sunday, members went on a tour of the surrounding country-side taking in the truly amazing views, including the spectacular Fitzroy Falls, before experiencing a most enjoyable bushman’s style lunch in a converted woolshed which proved a fitting end to a great TR weekend.
