The National TR Register Concours will be held in Canberra on the weekend of 31 October – 2 November 2014. We are delighted to be able to bring you to the National Capital on a social occasion instead of just for politics and politicians!! We have a beautiful city and we’d love to share it with you all.
We are intending holding the Concours judging on the lawns in front of Old Parliament House which is in easy walking distance to many of our national attractions, including Old Parliament House, the National Gallery, the National Portrait Gallery, Questacon, the National Library and the High Court of Australia. All of them are situated on the shore or very near to Lake Burley Griffin and entrance to most is free. They also have cafes and restaurants to provide you with a choice of refreshments.
The accommodation will be at the Mecure Hotel Canberra, cnr Ainslie & Limestone Avenues, Braddon. The hotel was opened in 1927 during the building of Old Parliament House and was built to provide accommodation for public servants relocating to Canberra to support the transfer of the Commonwealth Parliament. It is listed in the Register of the National Estate. It combines old world charm with modern comforts and is located close to the City Centre, The Australian War Memorial, as well as shops and entertainment.
